At the end of summer, I am eternally reminded of one of my favourite poems by Robert Frost.
The poem goes:
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Now, this lament of an ending always struck me as a sad end to the glory days of summer. That’s before you start delving into the complexities of nature and life (YAWN haha). However, so many people that I know feel cheated when summer comes to an end, and switch their wardrobes reluctantly. Ditching shorts for trousers, t-shirts for jumpers and so forth.
But in this topsy-turvy world (global warming), the boundaries between summer and autumn are becoming weirder and thinner. The end of September may bring heat and sunshine one day, and torrential rain and chills the next. So why not celebrate the end of summer with a little summer wardrobe hurrah?
I wanted to throw a look together that picked up some of summer ‘18s biggest looks: tribal prints, joggers and relaxing! I chose a shirt from Devil’s Advocate and ASOS joggers to really soak up the last few rays of sunshine. Like my shoes? Well thank you. I put all the hard effort into pilfering them from a hotel spa. The ultimate in relaxation.
Whatever you fancy wearing in the last days of summer, make sure it makes you feel good! The end of summer also means the start of something new. Even though the last few days of gold are among us, new colours begin to emerge. Oh. And pumpkin spice lattes.
